Introduction

This guide aims to provide a low-investment solution for luring / tanking in Poring Village Unreal (PVU).
Once you are able to lure / tank the porings in PVU, the instance mainly comes down to having enough DPS to clear the poring mobs quickly.

What is Poring Village Unreal?

  1. Poring Village Unreal (PVU) is a custom endgame version of the Poring Village instance. Completing the Unreal version rewards 2x Special Instance Coin (50209)
  2. The mechanics of the instance are mostly the same as the normal version, except the porings are heavily buffed in terms of HP, Damage Reduction, and Attack.
  3. The instance itself has no cooldown (repeatable), however the reward can be collected only once per day.

How it works

  1. All porings in PVU use normal physical attacks or physical skills (such as Fire Attack, Poison Attack, Water Attack, etc.)
  2. All porings have very high damage, movement speed, and attack speed, are non-aggressive and are looters.
  3. The instance limits maximum resistance from a single source to a maximum of 90%.
  4. Porings usually do not change target from the lurer (very sticky), unless their aggro is reset by effects such as Stun, Blind, Extreme Vacuum, etc.
  5. The goal is to reach 100 perfect dodge (PD) so that all normal physical attacks can be evaded.
  6. Damage from physical skills cannot be evaded by perfect dodge, so we use a combination of Formless resist (45%), Small resist (66%), DEF (~1000+), and RES (~500+) to reduce that damage.
  7. The instance debuffs you with All Stats Down, so we need 105 PD to achieve 100 PD after stats down inside the instance.
  8. Biolo is generally the best lurer for PVU because it can use Illusion Doping to gain aggro from monsters in a large AOE, but this gear build can be used by any class
  9. (Unverified) Removing Battle Log & Party Member Battle Log (Damage numbers that show up in chat), seems to help with reducing lag when fighting big mobs

Consumables (Buffs)

Note: Heal-over-time potions such as Small Life Potion (14534) , Medium Life Potion (14535) and Mysterious Life Potion (12832) stack with each other. This improves survivability and reduces the need for healing consumables, especially if you don't have a Devo IG or Cardi in the party.

  • Almighty (12883) - +10 Luk to reach 100 PD
  • Brilliant Protection Scroll (23204) - Reduces incoming damage
  • Small Life Potion (14534) - Use if you don't have a Devo IG or Cardi in the party
  • Medium Life Potion (14535) - Use if you don't have a Devo IG or Cardi in the party
  • Mysterious Life Potion (12832) - Use if you don't have a Devo IG or Cardi in the party
  • Giant Petite Tail Noodle (50122) - Requires cooking; only use if you have no other way to reach 100 PD (ideally not needed)

Consumables (Healing)

  • Concentrated Golden Syrup Potion (1100005) - spammable
  • Yggdrasil Berry (607) - warning: 4 seconds cooldown
  • Yggdrasil Seed (608) - warning: 2 seconds cooldown
  • Hearty Rice Cake (12196) - spammable, no cooldown

Consumables (Other)

  • Alcohol (970) - for Illusion Doping

Play Style

As a lurer, here are the key priorities / things to keep in mind

  • Homunculus skills Granitic Armor, Pain Killer can be used to reduce the incoming damage (though not mandatory).
  • As the lurer, make sure to run ahead of party members to gain aggro from monsters.
  • The size of the mob you can pull depends on your party composition. Here is a quick rule of thumb:
  • Solo (no IG Devo or Cardi) - 10 to 11 porings at a time
  • IG Devo (with Rebound Shield) and no Cardi - ~20 porings at a time
  • IG Devo + Cardi - ~25-30+ porings at a time (you are almost immortal at this point)
  • Porings usually do not change target from the lurer (very sticky), unless their aggro is reset by effects such as Stun, Blind, Extreme Vacuum, etc.
  • This also means the DPS must wait for monsters to aggro onto the lurer before starting DPS
  • Porings move very fast and are looters.
  • If there are nearby un-aggro porings while DPS is attacking lured mobs, there is a chance they may wander into the DPS AOE and aggro onto DPS. The easiest way to avoid this is to move away from un-aggro monsters before starting DPS.
  • All party members must have @autoloot 100. Otherwise, when a poring dies and drops loot, nearby un-aggro porings may move into DPS AOE to loot items and accidentally aggro onto DPS.
  • All porings are Small and Formless. DPS can optimize for this to maximize damage.
  • The small porings are Fire, Water, and Wind. Using Poison element increases damage against all small porings.
